After logging into Windows NT or 2000, you receive an error message with Marina.dll in the title bar with the dialog "Timbuktu could not be launched because the file c:\program files\Timbuktu pro\Chat.dll could not be found."
Check if the Chat.dll file is in the specified location of the error message. If chat.dll is present in the Timbuktu pro program directory, the cause of the error message is a result of removing the Everyone group from the Security permissions of the boot drive. If the Everyone group has been removed, the System account is also removed. The built-in System account needs access to the Windows NT/2000 default directories and subdirectories in order for Timbuktu and other applications and processes to function properly. For more information regarding the System account, please consult Microsoft KB Q120929.
Restoring the Everyone group or adding the System account to the Security permissions of the boot drive should resolve this issue. If you have problems restoring the default System account please consult Microsoft KB Q153094 or Q157963.
If the chat.dll file is missing from the location specified in the error message, Timbuktu may have not been installed properly or the installer was corrupt. Uninstall your Timbuktu and reinstall Timbuktu. You may have to redownload the Timbuktu installer from our server especially if you are using a downloaded file. Make sure antivirus and all other applications are disabled during the installation of Timbuktu.
