Software Audit does not display the license information properly

NTO_020

Problem:

Checking the Log window will reveal errors in Software Reference List. Character errors in software Reference List will cause inaccuracies in the Software Audit.

Situation:

After performing the Software Audit, the Software Audit window does not display the license information field properly. The license information field reports either unknown or illegal software, regardless of the amount of licenses the Software Audit found or the Software Audit gives inaccurate information.

Solution:

When the log window displays an error in the Software Reference List, the best way to resolve the error is to investigate the line within the Software Reference List that the log window is refering to.

There are instances within the Software Reference List where a capitalized letter or punctuation is creating the error. In instances where log window displays an error such as: "There is a problem in the software reference list: The 'File Type' entry could not be found (line 9)," the solution to this particular error is to add a carriage return to the very last line in the Software Reference List. This will change the last reconized line within the Software Reference List to the empty line containing the carriage return.

Another solution to other errors within the Log Window is to recreate the software reference list line by line within a new instance of Notepad. Anomalous errors that are displayed in the log window can be rectified in this fashion.
