The memory requirements for the netOctopus Administrator vary, depending on the size of the databases.

Solution:

The list below details the memory requirements for the different databases. All numbers are estimates because the length of the fields may vary. The memory requirements are in bytes/record.

Computers Database:	2800
File Database:	250
Processes Database:	180
Network Database:	150
Software Meter Database:	110
Fonts Database:	120
Software Changes Database:	120

For the Macintosh versions of netOctopus 2.1 and higher, memory allocation is more efficient. The memory for the records of a database is taken from the Temp memory. This is the memory that is available outside the application heap, basically memory that is free. Only if there is no memory left does it take the memory from the netOctopus application heap. As a result you do not need to increase the memory allocation for netOctopus from the default 8 MB.
