When attempting to connect to a system with dual Network Interface Cards (NIC's), Timbuktu Pro often displays the IP address from the incorrect NIC, that makes it impossible for another system to connect to it.
In Timbuktu Pro 2000 b805 and higher, a new registry setting has been added that will force Timbuktu Pro to display the correct IP address for machines trying to make an inbound connection to it.
IMPORTANT: This Tech Note contains information about editing the registry. Before you edit the registry, make sure you understand how to restore it if a problem occurs. For information about how to do this, view the "Restoring a Registry Key" Help topic in Regedt32.exe.
- Go to Start\Run\Regedit
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Netopia\Timbuktu Pro\Security\Ports
- Highlight Ports and create new registry key.
- Name new key: TCP
- Within the new TCP key, create new registry string
- Name new string: AdapterAddressIn
