This brief guide is intended to help first time users of Timbuktu Pro quickly set up and establish a connection between two machines over TCP/IP through a Cayman router running Network Address Translation. This is by no means a definitive guide. There are alternate ways of establishing a Timbuktu Pro TCP/IP connection. This guide only presents one of them.
Following are the steps to take before the connection can be made.
- Connect to your router setup home page
- Click on the Pinhole button.
- Click on the Export Mode button.
- Under the Name field, enter in Timbuktu Pro
- Select UDP from the pop-up menu
- In the External Port Start and External Port End field, enter 407.
- In the Internal IP Address field, type the internal IP of the host machine you wish to establish a Timbuktu Pro session to.
- Enter 407 in the Internal Port field.
- Click Add
- Repeat steps 4-9 to enter in TCP 1417,1418,1419 and 1420
Note: Mac to Mac connections only requires TCP 407 open
- Now click on the Home button
- At the home page, restart your router to allow the changes to take effect
