VPN Setup Service Program

Netopia has launched the VPN Set-up Service Program to fulfill a growing need within the small and medium business (SMB) market for technical support services relating to network security. As network security has become a growing concern, a greater number of SMBs have felt the need to implement network security measures to protect confidential information transmitted over the public internet network, but may be lacking in the appropriate training and expertise to establish this capability. Netopia provides this level of technical expertise, so that SMB Network Administrators will have a reliable technical resource who is expert on network security measures and Netopia's built-in security features.

Netopia's service will focus on set-up and configuration of the business' Netopia router(s) to enable one or more VPN connections. These services will be made available initially to business end-customers who have purchased one or more Netopia router products and require technical support to configure the router's VPN capability. Netopia will also make these services available to all of its channel partners who choose to either refer end-customers directly to Netopia or resell the service as part of a managed service offering.

To order, contact Netopia Customer Service at (510) 597-5400 ext.1 (6AM to 5:30PM PST Monday through Friday).

PLEASE NOTE: If your router has a non-routable WAN address Netopia will not be able to sell you a VPN Setup Service Contract. VPN services to or from routers with non-routable WAN addresses are not supported by Netopia Technical Support. These addresses would be represented in the following ranges:
  • 10.x.x.x
  • 172.16.x.x-172.31.x.x
  • 192.168.x.x
Even though it may be possible through experimentation to effect VPN functionality in the case of a non-routable WAN address, Netopia Technical Support cannot troubleshoot these configurations. To successfully use VPN Services with the Netopia router, please contact your Internet Service Provider to obtain an account which uses a real, routable IP address on the WAN interface of the Netopia Router.
