Configuration File Backup IEQG_035
You can backup the configuration settings of your Netopia 3300 series router to a text file
or upload them to a TFTP server and copy them back to the router if needed.
Firmware Reference v7.2 (and later) -- Netopia 3300 Series

Before You Start
  • Telnet into the Netopia's Command Line interface at 192.168.1.254 (if using the default IP setting). If your network has a different IP addressing scheme, modify this accordingly.
  • For instructions on using telnet or Hyperterminal please see IEQG_100: Getting Started.
  • Using a Text File
    To save your settings:

    1. Telnet into the router.
    2. At the Netopia prompt, type configure.
    3. At the (top)>> prompt, type script.
    4. The Netopia will print to the screen all the set commands that are used to configure your router.
    5. Simply copy and paste them to a text file, such as Notepad or Simple Text.
Note: Due to the potential for a large number of configuration commands in an individual router, it is advised that you keep the commands separated in the screen sections that the router displays. This will allow you to copy the commands back to the router in the proper order and at a controlled pace.

    To restore your settings:

    1. Telnet into your Netopia router.
    2. At the prompt type configure.
    3. At the (top)>> prompt, paste the configurations, one section at a time and in the proper order, from the saved text file.
    4. Once all commands have been copied back and you are returned to the (top)>> prompt, type save.
    5. Once the configuration has been saved, type quit to return to the original prompt.
    6. At the Cayman prompt type restart; this will restart the router and restore your configuration.

    Using a TFTP Server
    To save your settings:

    1. Telnet into your Netopia router.
    2. At the prompt type upload.
    3. You will be asked to confirm the action; type yes.
    4. You will be prompted for the IP address of the TFTP server and the file name; enter the appropriate information and hit "enter."
    5. You will be asked to verify the upload; type yes.
    6. Upon successful completion of the transfer, you will receive the message "File Upload was successful."
