If you have modified your network address translation settings in any way for use with your primary WAN connection, you should create a new map list and server list for use with your backup configuration.
- You are configuring any of the following Netopia R-Series Leased Line routers:
- R5300 T1
- R5200 DDS
- R5100 SA
- R7100-C SDSL
- R7200
- R3100-I IDSL
- R9100
- You are running Netopia Firmware version 4.4 or above. To update your router firmware, go to our firmware update page.
- Establish a serial connection to the Netopia router's console using a communications program such as HyperTerminal or Z-Term. The settings should be 9600 Baud, 8 Data Bits, and 1 Stop Bit. Disable flow control.
- Alternatively, you can use Telnet over your LAN to get to the console screens.
- For detailed instructions on using Hyperterminal, Z-Term, or Telnet, please see Netopia Quick Guide NQG_21.
- Do not change any settings other than the ones referred to below.
- Pressing Return takes you into a page; pressing Escape takes you out.
- Press Return after entering each setting to save it.
Step 1
- Go Quick Menus and select Network Address Translation.
- Go to Add Map List and hit ENTER.
- Enter the Profile Name of your choice.
- Hit ENTER on Add Map when the selection appears.
- Leave the First Private Address at 0.0.0.0.
- Change the Last Private Address at 255.255.255.255 and hit ENTER.
- Hit ENTER on Use Public Range.
- If your Public Range is set as follows:
0.0.0.0 -- pat Easy-PAT Range
use the Easy-PAT Range. If it does not, continue with the following steps: - Hit ENTER on NEW RANGE...
- Enter a name into the Range Name field and hit ENTER.
- Leave all other settings on this screen as they are, and use the arrow keys to go to ADD NAT PUBLIC RANGE and hit ENTER.
- Now hit ENTER on ADD NAT MAP.
Step 2
(If you are using firmware version 4.8 or above, skip this step.)
- Go to Add Server List and hit ENTER.
- Enter a new name in the Server List Name field and hit ENTER.
- Hit ESCAPE twice to go back to the Quick Menu screen.
Step 3
- Go to Change Connection Profiles and hit ENTER.
- Select your backup profile and hit ENTER.
- Go to IP Profile Parameters and hit ENTER.
- Go to NAT Map List and hit ENTER.
- Select the new Map List that you created in Step 1 and hit ENTER.
- Go to NAT Server List and hit ENTER.
- If you are using firmware 4.8 or above, select None and hit ENTER.
- With firmware versions below 4.8, select the Server List that you created in Step 2 and hit ENTER.
- If you are using firmware 4.8 or above, hit ESCAPE once.
- Go down to COMMIT and hit ENTER.
