Firmware Upgrade to 6.4.0 R2

CQG_038

Netopia frequently releases new versions of firmware to enhance the features and functionality of your internet gateway. This Quick Guide will walk you through this simple process.

These instructions should be used after you have downloaded the firmware from the 3500 Series Support page on this website.

CAUTION: Before upgrading the firmware of the Netopia equipment, please take a moment to make note of the DNS Settings in your router. These values may be erased in the course of the download, but can be easily reconfigured back into the settings. See the technote CIR_012: DNS Information Quick Guide.

Please Note: If your router is currently running Netopia Enterprise Firmware version 8.0.10 and later, this technote is not applicable to you.

Before You Start

Browse into the Netopia's web interface at http://192.168.1.254 (if using the default IP setting). If your network has a different IP addressing scheme, modify this accordingly.

Login with the admin user name and password. Admin login is required to save changes. If you are unsure of this, contact your network administrator.

Remember to click the Submit button to save any entries. Hitting the back button without clicking Submit will undo any changes.

Once you have completed your configuration, click on the Save symbol in your upper right hand corner to validate the changes. Then click on Save and Restart.

The Netopia Web GUI Home Page in Expert Mode (Firmware v6.3 and later)

  4. Double-click on the firmware file you've saved and then click on the Install Software button.
  5. After about 2 - 3 minutes, you should get a prompt File Installation Success.
  6. Restart the Netopia, and you're done.

Don't forget to take a moment to make note of your DNS Address settings.
